This is why I don't track Whovians

When sales of TARDIS rings started taking off I thought it might be fun to get a map and track the places I've shipped to. You know, to make a map of whovians of the world. Then I thought better of it because I'd basically be making a population map.
See, I can sometimes think my way through a bad idea before I start doing it.

  1. This is why real GIS people normalise results against population when they make heatmaps. Amateur's schoolboy errors in implementation do not invalidate the usefulness of a properly made map.

  2. Well, that's true, but I very much doubt that given enough time and given enough data that a normalized map of whovians who buy my stuff would be more in any given area. The factors that may make that map interesting are that (1) it's a show from the UK meaning that area will be more dense and (2) I'm shipping from the US on a site popular in the US so most of my orders are from the US. How those two play against each other may be something to look at, but it's not worth it to me.
